Blocked sink, bath or shower, draining again today
Standing water in the kitchen sink, a bath that takes twenty minutes to empty, a shower you stand in. We clear the trap, the waste and the stack, and check where the water actually goes.
Water stands in the sink or shower tray and drains slowly
Smell from the plughole, worse in warm weather
Gurgling when another fixture drains
Water comes back up when the washing machine empties
A blockage that returns a week after you cleared it
Two fixtures in the same room slow together
Kitchen sinks block with grease and food; bathroom wastes with hair and soap. Both are easy. A blockage that returns quickly means the stack or the drain beyond it.
What happens when we arrive
1
Find the blockage
Trap, waste pipe or stack. A slow bath with a fine basin usually means the shared waste, not the trap.
2
Clear it
Trap off and cleaned, waste pipe rodded or jetted with a small nozzle, stack cleared from the top if the whole floor is slow.
3
Put it back properly
New trap seals if the old ones are perished, a run test with the tap open, and a check that the overflow works.
What's on the van
Replacement traps, wastes and seals for standard sizes
Flexible rods and a small drum machine
Small-bore jetting nozzles
Wet vac for the water you can't tip away
Enzyme treatment for grease
What it can and can't fix
Grease, hair, soap, food and scale all clear. A waste pipe run with too shallow a fall, or a sink plumbed without a proper trap, will keep blocking; we’ll say so and quote to re-run it.
Timing and price
A trap or waste blockage is 20 to 40 minutes. Clearing a stack is about an hour.
There are no prices on this page because the price depends on what we find and where. What we can promise is how it works: the call-out is £49, the engineer looks at the job and quotes it in front of you before touching anything, and the quote you agree is the price on the invoice. If we find something different from what you described, we tell you before continuing. The £49 call-out covers the visit and the diagnosis.

Often needed with this
Sinks, basins and waste
Leaking wastes, cracked traps, slow drains. Sorted without a new kitchen.
Enzyme products are fine. Caustic soda and acid unblockers damage plastic wastes and make the job dangerous for the engineer. Don’t use them on a fully blocked sink.
